Pattern just have to be double-clicked. The sims 3-launcher will install it for you.
Load this .cfg file and put the Resource.cfg to your root Sims 3 folder. For example, if you installed Sims 3 to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, that is your root Sims 3 folder. If there is already the Resource.cfg file in your root Sims 3 folder, you will NOT need to recover/ overwrite it.
Windows: Place that file in Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ - then place any .package files in Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
Macintosh: Place that file in The Sims 3.app > Contents > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > Program Files > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. Then place any .package files in The Sims 3.app > Contents > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > Program Files > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Mods > Packages
If you are installing something the first time, you won`t find such a folder. Don`t worry, you can simply create a folder "mods" and a subfolder "packages" in your sims3 directiory.
